Ten Things About Beth...

Ten Things I Do

  1. I write. Narratives. Stories. Plans. Executive Communication. Program Communication. Speeches. Articles. HR emails. Customer communications.

  2. I design and facilitate workshops. For leaders. For teams. In person. Virtually. In the UK, Europe, the US – and anywhere else in the world.

  3. I coach. Leaders. Teams. C-suite. Middle managers. Female talent. Emerging leaders. Graduates.

  4. I challenge. I interrogate data. I dig into research. I challenge assumptions. I ask questions. All in service of you achieving your goals.

  5. I can see what others can’t. I know how to ask the right questions to identify the gaps – and spot the opportunities.

  6. I simplify the complex. I’ve helped people understand company strategies. Visions, Values, Purpose. Financial results. Risk-weighted assets. Material risk takers. Covid tests. Technology programs. Pension schemes. Tenancy law. HR policies, processes, and technology. Food safety. Government policies. And lots of projects full of acronyms.

  7. I strategize. I identify the big picture – and the steps you need to take to get there. And I notice the details, too – because they matter.

  8. I build relationships. At all levels. With people from all over the world. I listen. I am curious. I care.

  9. I create stronger leaders and more effective teams. More confident speakers. More succinct writers. More creative and innovative team members. Been doing this for years and still passionate about it because I know the difference it makes to people – and to performance.

  10. I deliver. To budget. To timeframes.

Ten Things I Can’t Do

  1. I can’t say that you leverage synergies and optimize frameworks that underpin agile sustainable customer efficiencies. I speak three forms of English – and jargon isn’t one of them.

  2. I can’t give you a generic program like the other companies do. Why would I? You are unique, and deserve something that is tailored for you and your needs – not something that is rolled out to everyone else but now has your colors and logo.

  3. I can’t make your employees love you tomorrow. But I can help you by building – or repairing – the relationships you need to engage and inspire them.

  4. I can’t tell you that mediocre is good. And I won’t. But I will help you turn that mediocre into something better than good.

  5. I can’t ‘wave my magic wand’ to make lousy communications wonderful. But I can work magic. Because I know what I’m doing. And I care.

  6. I can’t do it alone. I’ll do the heavy lifting, but this is a partnership. I need your input and insights so I can work my magic (sans wand, as noted in #5).

  7. I can’t do this for you yesterday. I work quickly, but I don’t settle for ‘good enough’ or OK. You deserve excellent work –  and that’s what you’ll get from me.

  8. I can’t help people who don’t want to be helped. I put in a lot of effort, time, and commitment for my clients – and expect their commitment, too. The results will be worth it.

  9. I can’t give you the Four Seasons for the cost of a youth hostel. You want quality – and you deserve the best. And investing in your development pays dividends.

  10. I can’t make you love me. But I hope you’ll love the work I do for you.

Ten Things I Believe

  1. I believe most of us are capable of more than we realize. Sometimes we just need someone to believe in us – and show us what’s possible.

  2. I believe one size does not fit all. That’s why I tailor my programs to your goals and your needs. So you get what you want. And what you need.

  3. I believe variety is the spice of life. I bring lessons from different industries and different countries, from history, literature, and pop culture. It makes things different. And fun.

  4. I believe in the beauty of simplicity. Life is complicated enough. If you can say it in a page, why wouldn’t you? And showing off your vocabulary is pointless if people don’t understand your words.

  5. I believe learning should be fun. Think of the best teachers you had growing up. I bet they weren’t boring. They made learning fun. They cared. So do I.

  6. I believe in keeping it real. I’m a positive person, but sometimes you need constructive criticism to improve. I deliver it gently, and always in the service of you meeting your goals. And you can bet that when you make those improvements, I’ll cheer for you and celebrate you. With genuine enthusiasm.

  7. I believe in following your curiosity and constantly learning. I’ve been doing this a long time, but I’m humble enough to know that there’s always more to learn. And I believe you can (and should) learn from everyone you encounter.

  8. I believe good manners never go out of style. Being polite. Saying please and thank you. Showing appreciation. Writing notes by hand.

  9. I believe in doing what you say you’ll do. Keeping promises. Honoring your commitments. Being dependable and trustworthy.

  10. I believe that investing in your communication, creativity, and leadership skills pays dividends. Big ones. And these skills will benefit you regardless of your industry, job title, or location. You need these skills now – and in the Future of Work.
